From our research, the most addictive game in the gaming world is “World Of Warcraft”
40% of ALL (10 Million) “WoW” players are totally addicted. That is 4 Million people from one game!
Signs that you are addicted:
• Playing for increasing amounts of time
• Thinking about gaming during other activities
• Gaming to escape from real-life problems, anxiety, or depression
• Lying to friends and family to conceal gaming
• Feeling irritable when trying to cut down on gaming
Most of non-school hours are spent on the computer or playing video games.
Falling asleep in school.
Not keeping up with assignments.
Worsening grades.
Choosing to use the computer or play video games, rather than see friends.
Dropping out of other social groups (clubs or sports).
Irritable when not playing a video game or on the computer.
Addicted kid’s parents testimonies.

“My 16 year old is exactly the same and for a minute there I thought you were talking about my son. My feeling towards the computer is same as yours. I feel like blowing it up as it has taken over my son. He is not doing well at all in school and gave up basketball, friend and drums. All he could think about is getting his face glued to the computer. He lost his interest in people and all other kids are uninteresting and boring to him. He once went to a party and end up sleeping in the couch. He regretted going yet a couple of years ago, you could not get him to come home."

"I am really stressed out and want my son back. There has to be a way. "

"Worse is that my ex-husband feeds his addiction. Last year we only have one computer in the house and we wait out turns to use. They get 2 -3 hours gaming time. This school year, he bought him his very own laptop and PSP. My son ping pong back in forth between the two gadgets."

Some of those 'signs of addiction' are such crap. just like everyone has ADD. Who doesn't fall asleep at school, i couldn't stay away and WoW came out 5 years after I graduated. All i wanted to do skateboard at that time, i thought about it in class, drew pictures in my notepads, skated all night and was tired at school. got all depressed when i snowed and i couldn't skate... so i was definately addicted to skateboarding. But no one was like, you should quite and get your life back.

It's just that a video seems like 0 social interaction.. and granted, 'kids' are 10 times more rude on that game than they would be to your face, oh wait i've talked to those little kids face to face, they're all that rude all the time, cause parents suck these days, and it has nothing to do with games...

anyway, this confuses me

• Gaming to escape from real-life problems, anxiety, or depression

if you suffer from depression, and playing a game makes you not feel said depression, isn't that a goodthing. and i don't want to hear "oh well the problem isn't gone, it just makes you forget..." Thats total BS, depression is just a feeling (and yeah, one of my best friends suffers from clinical depression) and while the drugs numb them, the point is to find happiness, or to be happy, and not depressed. If anygame makes you feel not sad, then its a very good thing.

Other signs ARE true, irritable when not playing, hell, i feel that way sometimes. But between my fiance, two jobs and guitarhero, i don't get to play WoW as much as i used to.

But then again, if you've been sober for 10 years, you're still an alcaholic, you just aren't drunk.

I'll tell you what, if I had the choice for my child, friends or a family member to be addicted to a videogame, or cocaine... at least video games don't lead to VD nearly as fast.
